Literature Text

The friends I had,
the memories we shared,
the lessons we learned,
the persons who cared.

Words gone unsaid,
the lives drifting apart,
my school life ending,
my true life given start.

Regret growing inside,
of the words left unspoken,
the lives I wished to touch,
my heart torn and broken.

Those friends so far away,
distant and grown mature,
my memories beginning to fade,
the life of my childhood a blur.

A familiar smile,
comes in to view,
my eyes begin to open,
thank God, it's you.
I'm not really a poet, but I wrote this to help a friend with their English work. (I graduated a few years back but they are still in school, so I help where I can)

It's a simple poem, I wanted to try a rhyming style as I normally go freestyle (or however it is called in poetry terms) without the use of rhymes.

Either way, if you read it I hope you enjoy it!

EDIT 4/25/2019 Hey there! 10 years ago me made a few mistakes, so I thought I'd keep the original for the authenticity but put a less rough version up here. :D

The friends we had,
the memories we shared,
the lessons we learned,
the people who cared.

Words gone unsaid,
lives drifting apart,
my youth now ending,
and true life given start.

Regret growing inside,
of words left unspoken,
the lives I wished to touch,
my heart torn and broken.

Those old friends so far away,
distant, grown, mature,
my memories beginning to fade,
the life of my childhood a blur.

A familiar smile,
comes in to view,
my eyes begin to open,
thank God, it's you.
